This is a continuation of a 30 year, phased, pipe replacement and upgrade program for the Hyannis Water System; as recommended by Weston & Sampson Engineering, Inc. in their April 2007 Master Plan.
It is important to implement a structured program to replace and upgrade the water pipes in the distribution system, some of which are over 100 years old. This program is in addition to the routine maintenance and repair program to be performed by the contracted water system operator. The proposed capital budget for this pipe replacement and upgrade program is $1,050,000 per year, and includes a capitally funded water works project manager to oversee and implement this program. This continuing project will ensure the long-term ability of the Hyannis Water System to provide sufficient drinking water and fire readiness protection for all its customers.
To be funded by $946,000 of the March 2022 Bonds - 1.79% of the 2021 Capital Budget
